Working on The New Magazine Spread
I’m working on a magazine spread for ART 292-40H Computerized Graphic Design II. The magazine I’m going to be using is the Bon Appetit.
Information About Bon Appetit
Bon Appétit is an American food and entertaining magazine published monthly. It was started by M. Frank Jones in Kansas City in 1956. Jones was owner, editor and publisher until 1970, when Bon Appétit was merged into the Pillsbury Company, who sold it to Knapp Communications, publishers of Architectural Digest, four years later. Condé Nast Publications, the current owners, purchased Knapp Communications in 1993. Its sister publication was Gourmet, before the latter was discontinued in October 2009. The magazine’s headquarters, which had been in Los Angeles, CA, were moved to New York City in early 2011.
Your assignment is to design four pages including a double-page spread*
(layout) and two additional single pages for the national magazine Bon
The content for this assignment is an article on the wine/beer/cider from
the vineyard/brewery from your first assignment. The goal is to use
components of your label and further the “brand” identity to market your
product to an audience both in Virginia and those traveling in Virginia.
This is not an ad but an informational article about your product and
vineyard/brewery. You must include related items such as a recipe or
other related items such as vector graphics.
You are required to photograph your bottle with your label to include in
your magazine spread. You must also have additional photograph(s) such
as food items or a scene including your product and small vector graphics
such as illustrations, ribbons or banners.
You must use InDesign for this assignment for ALL layout and type
although the label and other graphical elements may be created in
Photoshop or Illustrator.
* A spread is two facing pages in a publication.
